Badung (Oct. 4) – PT Pelindo Marine Service (Pelindo Marine) has been named the Best Social and Environmental Responsibility Unit at the 2024 Pelindo TJSL Awards. The event recognizes outstanding Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) programs across PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) group of business, highlighting achievements in environmental, education, and micro and small enterprises (UMK) development. Pelindo Marine also took home the award for the Community Involvement and Development (CID) category for its UMK Batik Support Program, which empowers artisans in the former Dolly red-light district in Surabaya.
The awards ceremony was held during the Cruise Market Day event at the Bali Maritime Tourism Hub, Port of Benoa, on Friday (Oct. 4). Awards were presented by Edi Eko Cahyono, Assistant Deputy for Social and Environmental Responsibility at the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN), Sonny Sukada, a sustainability expert from The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award Foundation Indonesia, and Pelindo’s Corporate Secretary, Ardhy Wahyu Basuki.
Pelindo Marine, which operates pilotage and towage services across 55 ports in Indonesia, nearly secured a hat-trick of awards. Its Environmental CSR Program, which provides water sources for farmers in the dry lands of Madura Island, was also nominated and personally surveyed by BUMN TJSL Coordinator Fahrudin and Pelindo’s TJSL Program Dept. Head Febrianto Zenny. Additionally, Pelindo Marine’s integrated CSR efforts in Kampung Seng, Tanjung Perak, advanced to the final presentation round.
Edi Eko Cahyono, a member of the judging panel, stated that the internal CSR competition within Pelindo aims to inspire the creation of innovative programs that benefit the wider community. “The Ministry of BUMN hopes that through this competition, the Pelindo Group will continue to innovate and design CSR programs that benefit society and are sustainable. These programs should address today’s social and environmental challenges, demonstrating the company’s commitment to sustainable development and community empowerment,” he said.
Sonny Sukada, another judge, highlighted the potential of the proposed CSR programs to become best practices and inspiring success stories. “Each program not only showcases creativity and innovation but also focuses on real needs in the field. With the right approach, these programs can create a significant and sustainable positive impact. I hope these efforts will not only improve community welfare but also inspire further investment in social and environmental initiatives, strengthening the relationship between companies and communities,” Sukada added.
On the same occasion, Pelindo Marine CEO Warsilan expressed his gratitude for the company’s two major achievements at the 2024 Pelindo TJSL Awards. “We are committed to continuing to deliver broader benefits to the community. This achievement reflects our desire to grow alongside the communities within our maritime ecosystem and to foster innovation in our social responsibility programs,” Warsilan said.
He also emphasized that CSR programs must align with Pelindo’s vision of becoming a world-class leader in the integrated maritime ecosystem. “We are dedicated to developing CSR programs that not only provide tangible solutions to community problems but also contribute to environmental sustainability and local economic growth. This accomplishment motivates us to be even more innovative and responsive to the needs of surrounding communities, reinforcing Pelindo’s position in the global maritime industry,” Warsilan concluded.
